Public safety initiatives need to originate from within the community that understands the root of the issues best, and empower community members to develop transformational solutions together.

  • Shift funding to community programs
  • Re-design the NYPD’s “Build the Block” meetings to be led and facilitated by community leaders

  • Fund additional Cure Violence sites and similar programs

  • Empower the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) with the power to determine and enforce disciplinary actions in response to complaints against NYPD officers

  • Demand all new recruits and new officers be required to take part in community tours and meet with community leaders, community based organizations and business owners.

  • Demand that before new supervisors are placed into new precincts, that we institute a community leader approval process.
